1.       Identify the SVOC
As we know, sentence consists of Subject + Verb + Object + Complement (Adverb/Adjective).
First thing to do is find the Verb of the sentence. It’s usually can be found in the middle of the sentence. After you found the Verb, find the Subject, Object and Compliment.
2.       Identify the Tense
Next thing to do is find the tenses of the sentences.
3.       Identify the Subject
The subject can be plural or singular.
                Example: Structure Analyzing
Arizona have a very dry climate
                  A              B
1.       Identify the SVOC
Arizona have a very dry climate
                  A              B
·         Subject : Arizona
·         Verb : Have
·         Object : -
·         Complement: A very dry climate.
2.       Identify the Tenses
This sentence is using Simple Present Tense
3.       Identify the Subject
After we knew that the tense is Simple Present Tense, then the verb must be the Verb 1. Because the subject is Singular (Arizona) the verb must go with “has”, not “have”.
Conclusion : The word “have” in the sentence is wrong. It must be replaced with “has” because the Subject is Singular.
